A. Veneer Stone is estimated by the square foot.
B. Retention walls are estimated by the cubic foot.
C. Pool stone work is estimated by the tonnage of rock used.
With stonework there are times when a set price can be given but many factors must be considered. Accessibility to the job site,
size of job and degree of difficulty will all affect the price. If demolition is required beforehand you would probably do better to
have someone else do that part, masonry labor is much more expensive.
Q. How do we maintain our stone?
That’s one of the perks of using natural stone, maintenance is minimal in most cases. Most times a pressure washer is all that’s
needed to clean outside Veneer walls and patio decks. Bleach mixed in water can be used to remove mold and water stains,
remember to rinse with clean water.
Q. Do I need any other contractors or sub-contractors?
For Swimming Pool work, you MUST go through a licensed Swimming Pool Contractor. A General Contractor will be needed to pull
permits, if required. It’s the LAW. Always check the credentials of anyone working on your project.
Waterfalls may require an electrician and/or plumber.
In some cases permits are not required as no structural change is involved. Sidewalks and planters on an already existing home
site usually do not need them. Some Veneer work falls into this category.
Q. I’m living in my home, how much noise and mess can I expect?
There’s no denying the fact that masonry is a messy job, but I take extra care and precaution when working in your home or
outside on your carefully maintained yard. In most cases I will leave the job with nothing to clean-up on your part. Dust will be the
biggest problem indoors, so you may want to cover sensitive items in the immediate area. Noise will not be a big problem since I
use hand tools for the majority of jobs. If saws will be needed it’s for only a little while.
